Assignment 1

ESSAY WRITING

In this assignment, we were assigned to construct and write a 5-paragraph expository essay. The task of this assignment was to identify the steps involved in producing an attractive sketch (kitchen utensil), followed by a written process essay describing the mentioned process. As you can see at the picture on your right, the kitchen utensil I choosen for this assignment is peeler.

For this assignment, I have learnt how to sketch for the first time in my life. I did a thorough observation on my object and sketch it out to experience the process of sketching myself.

I also learnt how to compose a well-organized essay with the help from Ms. Cass and her slides during both lecture and tutorial classes. I was made aware of my weak points in essay writing which are lack of vocabulary and grammar problems. I could improve more on the English language especially in writing.

Based on the Taylor's Graduate Capabilities that were to be harnessed from this assignment, I managed to practice discipline specific knowledge, lifelong learning and communication skills.

DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE

I understand the brief and write a well-developed and well-organized 5-paragraph process writing essay.

LIFELONG LEARNING

I learn to be independent in doing research to produce a more quality essay and sketch.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

I was able to put into practice appropriate communication in various settings and modes, especially in terms of putting my description into visible words, in a form of an 800 word-limit essay.
