Development Proposal
In this project, students are required to be in a group of two students to find a specific empty land to initiate a small construction project. The size of the land shall between 50m x 50m (2500m2) – 50m x 70m (3500m2).
I have been in a group of two members which is me and Jiji Ng. We decided to choose the car park along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng as our empty land for this construction project. We are required to make a Development Brief report which included the introduction to the site, and two development proposal of the empty land with minimum 20 pages of A4 sized paper in total.
After the announcement of this project, we manage to plan to visit our site on the following Saturday. I drive from Taylor’s Uni along to Jalan Yap Kwan Seng which located at KL area with Jiji. After one and a half hour’s journey, we reached our site and start to observe the site. We had taken some photos for report purpose. After the observation and record had done, we get back to Taylor’s Uni and started our group report planning.
After we done our group report, we immediately started our individual development proposal. In the development proposal, we are required to make a report that included our suggestion, rationale, benefits and impacts of the project to the client and the surrounding community/end user, sketch plan of proposal, sketches or images of idea, list of professions involved and their tasks.
I had decided to develop the empty land into a combination of recreation and commercial area. I planned to build a recreation fitness centre accommodate with commercial block. Although I will be a quantity surveyor student in future, but I’m quite satisfied with my proposal as I manage to draw and plan the proposal nicely.

Based on the Taylor's Graduate Capabilities that were to be harnessed from this assignment, I managed to practice discipline specific knowledge, lifelong learning, thinking and problem solving and communication skills.

DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
I able to list out and understand the professions involved and their tasks as lecture had taught in both lecturer and tutorial classes.

THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS
I able to document the information systematically and manage to solved the problems occurs in the planning of development proposal, and improve it to make it a better one.

LIFELONG LEARNING
I learn to be independent in doing research to produce a systematic and beneficial proposal.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
I have learnt to communicate better with my group mate throughout this project. We manage to document, understand and communicate our findings in a systematic ways to produce a good report.
