Project 1A
Understanding Different types of Professions and Drawings in the Built Environment
This is an integrated project between Introduction to Drawing (ITD) and Introduction to Construction Industry (ICI).
In this project, students are required to form a group of five or six members. My group members included Law Zhi Chang (grouip leader), Kimberley Fay, Ho Zi Yan, Lee Fei Syen, Joseph Soh and me. The task given were separated into two parts. The first part is for ITD which consists or 20%. Further information about ITD will be explained in details in ITD pages.
For the second part (ICI), consists of 10% in overall of 30%. We are required to research and investigate the scope of work handled by them, their responsibilities and tasks at different stages of construction.
The profession that is given to us for this project is architect which important in construction industry. As this is the first project for us, it was a little bit tough for us to gather the information as we haven learn it in any lecture or tutorial classes. So, after the brief and grouping, we went to library to gather information from books and had a discussion about this project. Throughout the teamwork and hardworking, we manage to analysis, understand and document the information collected. We did the mindmap together as the picture showed at the right side. We did the slideshow together and discuss among ourselves to aware about the correction in the slideshow. We also did a mock presentation together at X-space.
Our presentation fall on 8th May which is the second day of the presentation. Kimberley and Zi Yan represented our group to present our project in given time of 10 minutes. They did done a good job as they had practiced for several times before the presentation. I am glad to work with them as a group because they are all really teamwork group members.
Based on the Taylor's Graduate Capabilities that were to be harnessed from this assignment, I managed to practice discipline specific knowledge, thinking and problem solving, lifelong learning and communication skills.
DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
I understood the structures of organizations and the team involved in the construction industry. I also learnt more about the details of an architect.
THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS
I able to solve the problems occurs throughout the project as we are still a starter in this course an we manage to did it correctly at the end.
LIFELONG LEARNING
I understood the roles and responsibilities of an architect and their tasks in different stages of conctructions.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
I have learnt to communicate better with my group mates throughout this assignment and have a good teamwork with them in order to produce good quality of works and presentation.
