Social Psychology (PSY30203)

Social Psychology is the study of the manner in which the personality, attitudes, motivations, and behavior of the individual influence and are influenced by social groups.

In this module, our lecturer set the assessment for the students throughtout the semester. The assessment included journal, comic strip and also video clip.

Assignment 1 - Journal

Throughout the discussion of chapters in social psychology, the realization of integration between the learnt concepts and daily life experiences begin to emerge. Therefore, this journal assignment is designed to enhance the awareness of social psychological concepts applicable to different contexts and settings in daily life.

After completing this journal, I became more analytical about human behaviour. It sharpens my awareness and sensitivity about various social settings and the way people react to situations around them.

Besides, I am glad to learn about certain social psychological theories and concepts such as socialcultural perspective, unrealistic optimism, stereotyping, the halo effect and operant conditioning.

Assignment 2 - Comic Strip

There are different platforms in expressing ideas including that through conical characterization. Comic strip is planned to bring out the creativity in illustrating various social psychology concepts as well as to further enhance the comprehension of those discussed in the course.

In this assignment, we need form into a group of four and choose a topic of interest from ranges of social psychology concepts discussed and create a short sequence of drawing to display the narrative series of the intended topic.

After completing this comic strip, I have learned how to create a simple storyline with social psychology theories and concepts inside such as persuasion, observational learning, self-esteem, evolutionary perspective and post-decision resonance. In a group of four with Pui Chun Shian, Loh Mun Tong and Teo Chiang Long, we able to communicate well and have a great teamwork. All of us have our own specific workload evenly.

Assignment 3 - Video Clip

Social psychological movements revolutionized research influenced by the philosophies of academic application. The approach was create minds that changed social spaces and influenced people’s behaviors. These ideas continue to influence the way social psychology is being taught today.

In this assignment, we remain the group of four in the comic assignment to produce a video clip that applied with the concepts. We decided to use first impression, looking-glass self, false consensus, love and belonging and self-fulfilling prophecy.

After completing this video clip assignment, I have learned how to create a simple storyline with social psychology theories and concepts inside such as first impression, false consensus, love and belonging, self-fulfilling prophecy and looking-glass self. In a group of four with Pui Chun Shian, Loh Mun Tong and Teo Chiang Long, we able to communicate well and have a great teamwork. All of us have our own specific workload evenly. All of us involved in the video as actress while Pui Chun Shian and Loh Mun Tong are the main characters. Pui Chun Shian works on the video editing while Loh Mun Tong, Teo Chiang Lon and I work on the report. It was a great experience to work on a video.
